Last Monday, I looked out my window to see two Pine Siskins on my porch. As the chickadees at my house are trained to eat seeds out of my hand, I decided to give the siskins a shot. I put my hand out the window, and two(!) seconds later, a siskin came down and started eating.

It was very aggressive against all competitors, including the other siskin.

My mom got to feed it as well.

Do you think that the pine siskins had fed out of other peoples' hands, such that they were already trained for that? That does seem pretty fast for a bird who hadn't done it before.
That would make sense, though it seems rather unlikely. A few chickadees came down before the siskin, so that may've helped.
My birdies just chirp at me when I go outside . . . amazing that you were able to get these siskins to land on your hand! :)
My chipping sparrows are nice and tame, but they would never feed out of the hand!
